Christopher Colombus Carden

From Cathy's Daughter

Hey Uncle Ron! It's Dina. I found out something about Christopher Columbus Carden. He was a General in the war. I went back to the Sons of the Confederacy booth again today and looked up Carden. It was a mile long listing of course, but I found C.C. Carden. It didn't give the area he was over, but it had beside his name " Gen. & Staff ACS ". I had to come tell mom right away. Eventhough it only has C. C., mom seems to think it is definitely Christopher. Isn't that so cool to have a General along with a Colonel in our heritage. The guy I was talking to there said one of his ancestors was in the Battle of Chickamauga also and was captured. He had his ancestors actual release papers.

Rev. Samuel studied several years for the ministry under the famous
early Tennessee Presbyterian minister Thomas Craighead. Samuel is
listed in the early history of the church as one of the original founders
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The church historical library
at Memphis, Tennessee and on the Internet have several citations to
Samuel and his works in their archives.

Note:
May have been later spelled Donaldson.
To be proven: There is a high probability that Rachel Donelson, wife of President Andrew Jackson, was Rebecca's aunt.

Alexander McSpadden

Note: Joseph Haw states he was living with his uncle John N. McSpadden in Fayette Co., TN when he died. No mention of a wife. Death notice published in National Banner and Nashville Whig spells his name as "M'Spedding" and shows MNI as "A."
